Siebel Institute in Montréal: A new chapter with the same dedication to brewing education
As 2026 begins, an important moment is unfolding for our community. Siebel Institute of Technology classroom operations officially moved to Montréal, marking a fresh start while staying true to its long tradition of brewing science education. For many brewers around the world, Siebel Institute is a trusted foundation for understanding the theory, science, and process technologies behind brewing. This mission remains unchanged.
A new dynamic learning environment
The relocation brings Siebel Institute closer to Lallemand, which is headquartered in Montréal, and creates an environment where both teams can collaborate more naturally. The new Montréal site sits alongside the future Lallemand Baking Academy and the Application Technology Training Facility, bringing different fields of fermentation knowledge together in one place. Montréal’s vibrant food and beverage culture adds a welcoming backdrop for students who join courses and programs on site.
While the classroom operation has moved, the essence of Siebel Institute remains the same and will continue to offer its well-known online and campus classes while keeping the same level of academic quality that brewers expect and rely on. These offerings are built for those who want a strong theoretical foundation and seek to deepen their understanding of brewing science, from raw materials to processing, to practical theory and application. The move does not change Siebel Institute’s identity. It simply gives the institute a setting that allows it to stay resilient, accessible, and ready for the future.
Quality brewing education for all
Another meaningful aspect of this change is accessibility. For many international students, recent visa challenges in the United States created complications in attending in-person classes. The new Montréal location ensures easy access to on- campus classes, while keeping them affordable. The institute’s long-standing partnership with Doemens Academy in Munich also continues, including the advanced programs that will be held entirely in Munich for spring 2026. The fall advanced session returns to the classic dual campus/dual continent model, but the programs will begin in Montréal instead of starting in Chicago. New location, same trusted knowledge.
Lallemand has supported the Siebel Institute since 2000, always respecting its autonomy as a center for brewing education. Being closer now strengthens the connection between our teams while keeping the institute’s identity intact. What matters most is continuity. Students will still find the same thoughtful, proven science-first approach that has guided generations of brewers.
As Siebel Institute settles into Montréal, a new chapter will be opened and built on the same values it has carried since the 19th century: curiosity, rigor, and commitment to the brewing community. For all of us at Lallemand Brewing, it feels like welcoming an old friend a little closer to home.
