Employee interview – Meet Eric Dixon

Meet Eric, our Midwest technical sales manager. Originally from Delaware; Eric tells us about his past experiences in brewing and trends in the industry.

What are the hot trends in the brewing industry?

I think especially in America, you will see the lager beer come back. Big time, kind of more focused towards cleaner, flavored beers. I think you will see a transition in taste away from kind of heavily hopped beers to lighter ones, flavourful drinking beers, as customers are going to start wanting this more and more.

What is your favorite beer style?

I would have to say the Pilsner. The Pilsner is a type of pale lagerIt such a good beer, always drinkable, it comes clear, there is a little bit of a noble hop bitterness to it. It is perfect for drinking outside which I am a really big fan of. I love to enjoy a beer anywhere outside. Drinking outside is so underrated. You can’t beat it.

What did you do before joining the team?

Before Lallemand, I was brewing in various cities in the United States: Chicago in a small little brewpub, Detroit in a few breweries there, and Texas as well. I am originally from Delaware which is where I got my start working at a brewpub in Philadelphia. I came to Lallemand just over two years ago, because I was kind of looking for a change to something different within the industry.  Lallemand presented a good opportunity to work with great products and great people so I jumped at it. Currently, I am working in technical sales with brewing yeast. I oversee the Midwest territory for all sales and technical assistance.

Any tips for other brewers?

Take it slow. And focus on quality. I still think even now, making high-quality beer is still a good thing. Understanding your ingredients and how to use them is super important.
