Welcome to the latest edition of the Lallemand Brewing newsletter. We are excited to share some new developments in our business.

We launched our LalBrew® Voss Kveik strain at the Brau Beviale trade show in November and the market has gone crazy for this “yeast beast”. We present here the experiences of some of the brewers who have brewed with LalBrew® Voss – it has met and even exceeded all our expectations!

In this issue we devote an important part to discussing the challenges and opportunities associated with the use of dry brewer’s yeast. Dry brewer’s yeast has come a long way in the last 10 years, with a real focus on improving the quality and availability of different strains.

Our R&D team has been very busy lately, developing our product portfolio (did you know that it can take 1-2 years from the first “hey, let’s see how to get this strain to market” until it actually gets commercialized?) In this issue, Avi Shayevitz, research associate at our Montreal yeast labs, talks about the importance of yeast strain selection from a flavor standpoint: it’s all about flavor!

It’s an exciting time for the Siebel Institute as well. Siebel has just moved into an amazing new training and education center on Green Street, Chicago (located in the West Loop neighborhood of this vibrant city). We are excited to be a part of this new chapter at Siebel, and look forward to welcoming those in search of the highest quality brewing education experience through our (new) doors. Of course, Siebel holds a place in the hearts of the thousands of alumni who learned their craft with us and we have been working hard to continue our alumni support beyond graduation. We are thrilled to announce the launch of the new Siebel Alumni app, which creates a modern networking environment for Siebel students, alumni and faculty.

The new Siebel campus is equipped with great audiovisual capabilities, so we thought we’d put them to good use with the inaugural “LalBrew® Tech Day” on June 25, 2020. The LalBrew® Technical Day will be a live streamed event where key industry leaders will present on various hot topics. We will be posting the full list of topics, speakers and other event information on our Lallemand Brewing website in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

There’s nothing better than the Craft Brewers Convention to mix business with fun! The Lallemand Brewing team will be there and we look forward to seeing you at our booth to sample some beers brewed with our premium yeast strains and bacteria, and you’ll also get a sneak peek at some of our new products being released later this year.
